Amidst hectic activities initiated by the political parties in Manipur terming the 2001 Census as 'bogus' while pressing the Central Government not to effect the ongoing delimitation process in Manipur, the Movement for Tribal People's Rights Manipur (MTPRM) has decided to convene an emergency public meeting in this connection at District Council House, Chingmeirong, Imphal, on January 10 at 11 am to minutely discuss the matter, reports NNN.
The tribal rights body's move which has been prompted by the current delimitation imbroglio, is to take into account the views and opinions of the tribal leaders, tribal intellectuals and scholars and the tribal based civil organisation leaders on the issue.
As of now the MTPRM's future course of measures has not been decided but the tribal based rights body said that it depends on the outcome of the Jan 10 public meeting.
