Panchayat poll: 18 villages under ADC to cast vote

Imphal, August 30 2012:
The State Election Commission has instructed concerned authority of the state government to make adequate security arrangement for the ensuing Panchayat Election as the four valley districts of the state go to poll on September 13 .
Sources from State Election Commission said that 6,51,817 voters will cast their votes in 1516 polling stations.
Out of the total voters, 3,18,122 are male while the remaining 3,33,695 are female voters.
They will choose their representatives for 60 Zila Parishad seats, 161 Pradhans and 1514 Panchayat members on September 13.As per the preparations of the State Election Commission, each polling station will have six police personnel in addition to other security personnel.
However, the total number of polling stations which need to be guarded by police is not finalised yet.
DCs of all the districts and ADC Jiribam have been appointed as District Election Officer.
Besides, 13 Returning Officers and 41 Assistant ROs have also been appointed by the Election Commission.
Meanwhile, 18 villages of Thoubal and Imphal East district which have cast their votes in the recent ADC election will get the chance to cast their votes again in the ensuing Panchayat Election.
The election will begin from 7 am and conclude on 4 pm on September 13 .
Any repoll will be done on September 15 and counting will be conducted on September 17 .
