Last rites of slain persons performed

Moirang, January 23 2024: The last rites of the four farmers, including the father and son duo who were murdered by Kuki terrorists on January 18 at Ningthoukhong were held today.

The mortal remains of the four persons Oinam Bamonjao, his son Oinam Manitomba, Thiyam Somendro and Ningthoujam Navadeep, s/o Late Shyam were laid to rest following religious ceremonies at the grazing ground adjacent to Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou playground.

All four of them were residents of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Ward no 4 .

The bodies were claimed from RIMS mortuary today and taken to their birthplace for the last rites with a funeral procession.

People offered floral tributes to the four deceased by standing in line along Tiddim Road.

They (the four deceased) were murdered by Kuki militants on January 18 at around 3.45 pm.

There was a warning from Kuki militants that all Meiteis in Ningthoukhong areas would be killed by mixing toxic chemicals to the water supply, according to the locals of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou.

Ningthoukhong Kha-Khunou was attacked heavily by the Kuki militants on the same day (January 17) .
