Lamka, March 06:
The adamant approach adopted by the State Government in instituting NIT at Langol, Lamphelpat despite a sheer and significant reservation adapted by the media and civil societies, has yet again attracted another assertion from the CDSU the apex student body constantly pledging for instituting the same in Churachandpur.
A statement of the union made available today said if centralizing the reputed institutes only in the two valley districts of Imphal is the policy of the state, 'then clamouring for other alternatives by those in the outer regions cannot be construed as against the state.' They would rather be fighting for their constitutionally enshrined rights, the statement added.
The clustering of reputed institutes only in these districts shows the hegemonistic policy of the power that be, to centralize everything without looking into other issues further contended the union.
Like earlier statements, the union expressed its reservation on the adamant attitude adopted by the Government in setting up the NIT at Langol-Lamphelpat without ever considering the option of setting up the same at other suitable places where the people are ready to provide the required land.
The present site which the State Government has refrained from detaching, according to the statement is not just a residential area but agricultural and wetlands.
Meanwhile, the KSO Sangaikot Block has accused the Government of constantly neglecting their area albeit their promises.
A press handout of the organization said the Churachandpur-Sugnu Road and the Sangaikot-T Khongkhai stretch remains unattended despite the former being upgraded to State Highway and the later being promised by the Chief Minister two years back.
The student body in addition expresses its reservation to the concern authority for renting a room at Zouveng for the staff of Sangaikot TD Block even as the newly constructed building remains completed way back in October 2006.If staff quarters were the excuses, the Government should immediately look into it and ensure that the office stations at the designated location, the release contended.
With the Government still maintains silent inspite of their repeated reminders, the KSO will be constrained to pursue an intense form of agitation, if the grievances and assurances of the authority concerned were not address within March, further cautioned the handout.
