Imphal, June 04 2023:
The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has decided to launch intensive agitations since the Government of India has allegedly refused to abrogate the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with the Kuki militant groups.
In a press release, COCOMI asked why the large companies of security forces stationed in Manipur are unable to control the Kuki militants who are hostile towards Meeteis.
Claiming that Kuki militants didn't stop attacking Meeteis civilians even when Amit Shah was in Manipur, COCOMI asked whether the lungi clad militants will ever follow the instructions of the Union Home Minister.
Normalcy will return gradually in Manipur only after the Kuki militants stop their atrocities and return to their native country, COCOMI claimed.
The Committee further said that people may repose their faith on the Government if the Inter Agency Unified Command led by Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh takes up some visible measures to restore normalcy in the State.
Urging the authorities concerned to deploy adequate security forces at sensitive areas to save lives and properties, COCOMI continued that the sentiment of the people couldn't be suppressed as long as hostile and terror acts continue to take place.
There will be collatarel damage when there is strong conflict but Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons including snipers preventing picking up of corpses they gunned down was inhumane and bestial in nature, COCOMI said and continued that the dead bodies must at least be allowed to be taken to their families to perform the last rites.
Claiming that a section of people spreading propaganda in international and National media, COCOMI asserted that reiteration of fabricated tales won't make the lies a truth.
In the end truth will always prevail, it added.
A delegation of all political parties must head to New Delhi and give strong pressure to the Centre to restore peace and normalcy at the earliest, COCOMI advised.
If the people can't unite at this crucial juncture then the future of Manipur would be very bleak,
COCOMI cautioned.
