Imphal, June 04 2023:
A forum under the name of Manipur Indigenous Conservative Forum (MICF) was formed today by like-minded members and volunteers in a simple meeting held at New Hotel Anand Continental, Imphal.
In the meeting, the forum seriously viewed the ongoing war-like situation in Manipur and vehemently condemned the atrocities committed by armed Kuki militants against innocent people of the State, said a release issued by MICF.
It was also observed that the current unrest & turmoil could have been avoided by the State Government if they had taken timely stringent actions against the miscreants.
The Forum outlined the fact that the recent visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah has not brought any relief to the people of Manipur.
"He has not commented anything with regards to revoking the Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militants.
His two different versions of statements given to the Women Organisations of the Valley and to the Tribal leaders at Churachandpur raises a serious question" .
"On the one hand, the Union Home Minister gave assurance to the IMAs of Manipur that the territorial integrity of Manipur shall never be compromised at any cost.
However, on the other hand, to the demand of the tribal leaders at Churachandpur for separate administration, he commented that a committee for discussion of their demand has already been formed and that talks are underway", it added.
Asking what inference is to be made from such a statement by the Union Home Minister, MICF asserted that his seeking of time for a period of 10 days only means to heighten the unrest & turmoil in Manipur and is unwary of the fact that more casualties are bound to occur in the State.
The Forum also condemned the Union Home Minister's inactivity and incapacity to give any befitting response to the hue & cry of the people of Manipur, who are living under constant fear of life & property.
"Is the Union Home Minister really unaware of the fact that ground rules of SoO have already been violated by the Kuki militants.
This fact has already been reported by the Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh wherein he has affirmed that there is variance in the number of arms & ammunition being kept at the designated camps and that many cadres of Kuki militants who are under SoO are missing", it added.
The Forum also pointed out that the month-long war-like situation has brought a standstill to the educational and academic calendar of students in Manipur, let alone the normal economic activities.
MICF appealed to the State and Central Government to take rigid actions to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.
Meanwhile, 14 volunteers of MICF donated blood in a Mega Blood Donation camp conducted at the Department of Blood Transfusion, RIMS Hospital under the theme, "Blood for Unification of Manipur" .
