Health camps bring much-needed medical care to displaced families

Free medical health camps were organised at various relief camps located in Thoubal today to meet the required medical needs of displaced families.
Health Care Center (HCC) Thoubal in cooperation with Wangmataba Youth Club conducted a free health camp at TT Hall relief camp today.
Many notable doctors lent their service to the relief camp inmates and free medicines were also distributed.
Separately, Sur Hospital Khangabok and Dr Somen Foundation organised a medical camp at Khangabok Higher Secondary School relief camp today.
In this connection, Dr Somen stated that pregnant women would receive medical treatment free of cost.
Adding that today marks the 6th installment of such health camps, he said that more will be organised in the future.
In a bid to entertain the inmates and provide some moments of laughter, many demonstrated their talents and skills in front of the crowd.
All Meitei Medicos Union (AMMU), MITSNA-Empowering Lives, Educating Youth and MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam of Hiyanglam AC collectively organised a one-day mega free health camp at Langmeidong Higher Secondary School relief camp today.
At today's camp around thirty doctors specializing in medicine, surgery, dermatology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology provided medical services to the relief camp inmates and also distributed free medicines.
Aside from this, facilities for tests to diagnose various diseases were made available to the displaced persons.
Speaking in this connection, Dr Pibarel, media coordinator, All Meitei Medicos Union shared that this marks the seventh health camp organised by the Union in aid of the victims of ongoing violence.
He added that they received the support of many organisations including Meiteis in America, Manipuri Doctor's Association Assam, Lakhimpur and many pharma companies as well as private citizens, associations who made financial and donations in the form of precious medicines.
Adding that they have plans to conduct such free health camps in the near future, he maintained that they have no dearth of doctors willing to extend their services, however, the Union is facing shortage of funds and medicines.
