Students lock down CI College, Bishnupur

Bishnupur, September 26 2023: Students of CI College, Bishnupur on Tuesday locked down the College's administrative block, class rooms and gate to demand filling up of vacant faculty posts by Education Department within September 30.Speaking to media persons after locking down the college, one of the students informed that the College has 13 departments with many without requisite number of faculty members.

The Geography Department in particular has only two teachers out of which one has been transferred and one is on maternity leave.

Hence, no class has been conducted for the said department which has total of 100 students.

Not holding class for students tantamount to destroying their academic career, the student claimed.

The student continued that in Political Science Department of the required three faculty members only one teacher is present which has resuited in irregular classes.

Therefore, the department concerned should fill up the vacant posts by September 20, otherwise it will launch intense agitation including bandh, the student warned.
