Shah assures CM Biren punishment of culprits

Amid a meeting of the state cabinet on Tuesday wherein 51 agendas were discussed, union home minister Amit Shah reportedly phoned chief minister N Biren and assured of awarding strict punishment to the culprits involved in the murder of the two students.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle, a minister disclosed that the cabinet discussed adopting a resolution for imposition of President's Rule in Manipur, if it can put an end to the prevailing violence, and forwarding the same to the central government.
While the cabinet was discussing other agendas, union home minister Amit Shah called CM N Biren and assured him that central government is still standing for Manipur.
He (Amit) further assured of awarding strict punishment to the culprits involved in the murder of the two students and advised the state cabinet not to take any decision, which could become another issue amid the prevailing situation in Manipur.
As the union home minister phoned the CM three times in this regard, the state cabinet has not adopted any resolution on the same.
In addition to the state cabinet discussing the viral photos of the two missing students, the CM urged Amit Shah to take firm action during the phone conversation.
The home minister assured that the director of CBI will be sent to Imphal on a special flight on Wednesday to investigate the case and identify the culprits so that they could be punished according to the law of the land.
The director, upon his arrival at Imphal, will do all that is needful without any delay.
The state minister, however, did not provide any details of the other agendas discussed during the cabinet meeting.
The meeting was attended by ministers Awangbow Newmai, Khashim Vashum, Dr S Ranjan, S Susindro and Govindas Konthoujam.
The other ministers could not attend as they are out of station.
