Imphal, September 26 2023: After photographs of bodies of two missing students, Hemanjit Phijam and Linthoingambi Hijam, lying on the ground surfaced on social media, security forces carried out a search operation at Joujangtek in Old Cachar Road today.

Sources said, the search today at the village in Noney district's Khoupum sub-division was launched by a combined team of Manipur police, BSF and CAPF.

While no one was arrested or detained in the search operation, the security forces dismantled several bunkers built by villagers in the area.

It may be noted that the two students from Imphal went missing on July 6, and photographs of them in captivity and their bodies lying on the ground surfaced on social media yesterday.
