AR conducts tribute event, security meet

Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) on Thursday conducted a wreath laying ceremony at Modi village in Chandel district in honour of rifleman (GD) Churamani Singha.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on September 26, 1990 Churamani Singha was part of patrol party tasked to sanitise area between Phaibung Khullen and Lekhmai post.
As the party came under heavy fire by group of insurgents, Churamani exhibited fearlessness and overt courage and opened heavy fire on the enemy but suffered a gunshot wound and made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation, recounted the PRO.
On the other hand, Assam Rifles organised a security meeting at Sorde Company Operating Base, Kamjong district on Thursday to discuss the current security situation and address concerns of local residents regarding safety of their villages.
According to the PRO, the event began with a welcome address by senior officials of Assam Rifles, who briefed the village authorities on the prevailing security scenario in the region followed by an interactive session, wherein village heads shared their concerns about the socio-political climate and its impact on regional security.
The security forces actively addressed these concerns and reassured the villagers that their safety is a priority, with the security forces maintaining a vigilant presence in the area, the PRO added.
