Army commemorates World Environmental Health Day

On the occasion of World Environmental Health Day, the Indian Army led an array of environment-focused initiatives and community engagements across Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Imphal East districts and Leimakhong Military Station reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and community welfare.
A tree plantation drive was carried out at Leimakhong military station during which saplings of various kinds and medicinal plants were planted to promote environmental cause.
In Churachandpur district, the Army collaborated with locals of Chehjang and Changpikot villages for a tree plantation drive and awareness campaign.
With 250 saplings planted, the initiative aims to address key environmental issues such as climate change, deforestation, and pollution.
Additionally, a cleanliness drive was conducted at a relief camp in Torbung Bangla, with active participation of chief of S Kawtlian village, students and residents in cleaning water tanks and ponds, enhancing the area's sustainability and hygiene.
In Bishnupur district, Indian Army organised a lecture-cum-presentation at Moirang Multipurpose High School On the interconnection between environmental health and human well-being.
The session covered topics like climate change, pollution, sanitation, anti-plastic initiatives, and waste management, raising awareness about the impact of environmental issues on public health.
Outdoor activities were also conducted to foster hands-on learning.
At Changamdabi Public School in Imphal East district, Indian Army celebrated World Environmental' Health Day with a drawing competition on the theme "Plant a Tree, Plant a Future" .
The event, which saw participation by 110 students, encouraged creativity and awareness about environmental preservation.
Saplings were planted within the school premises to emphasise the importance of increasing the green cover.
Prizes were awarded to students for their enthusiastic participation, further inspiring them to become future leaders in environmental sustainability.
