Imphal, October 26 2023:
In view of the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) cases in Thoubal district as well, Langmeithet Youth Development Association (LYDA) has imposed immediate ban on dumping garbage and carcasses of animals and birds in Yerumching area, located adjacent to Langmeithet and passing through Uyal, Thokchom and Bengi villages of Thoubal district.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the Association stated that the decision was taken after a detailed discussion and considering the disturbing practice of people from different locations frequently dumping fur/feathers and carcasses of pets along the Yerumching road, which give off a terrible stench and pose risk of spreading various diseases.
Thus, it appealed to the villagers to extend their support in putting an end to such activities.
The Association further appealed to the people to bury the carcasses properly and gather their garbage at appropriate location, while urging substance users on both sides of the road to stop harassing people walking along the road, particularly the women and children.
Anyone found violating the ban will be responsible for the resulting consequences, in addition to being handed over to the authorities concerned, it cautioned.
