Driver Sahir JAC threatens to launch intense protest

While conveying that CM N Biren has assured of arresting the culprits involved in the killing of driver Sahir within 48 hours, the JAC formed against the killing has announced that all the planned protests will be halted till the stipulated time.
However, the JAC threatened to launch intense agitations if the government failed to translate into action assurance given within the stipulated time.
Speaking to media persons at Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai on Thursday, Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the Brutal Killing of Sangomsumpham Sahir alias Sana convenor Md Rah informed that at the invitation of the CM, representatives of the JAC met CM on Wednesday around 8 pm and discussed the demands of the JAC for one and half hours.
The meeting was also attended by PHE minister L Susindro Meetei, Lamlai A/C MLA Kh Ibomcha, Imphal East SP and Lamlai PS OC.
He conveyed that during the meeting, the CM condemned the killing of Sahir and assured of arresting the culprits within 48 hours and punishing them as per law of the land.
Expressing hope that the government will keep its promise, he, however, made it clear the JAC will not claim the body of deceased Sana for another 48 hours.
Urging the people to wait for the stipulated time as assured by the government, he cautioned that clubs, organisations, CSOs and the JAC will launch intense forms of protest if the government failed to translate the assurance into action.
Meanwhile, All India Tanzeem-E-Insaaf Manipur State Council condemned the killing of driver Sahir by a mob and shared the pain of the bereaved family.
It further condemned the failure of Lamlai police to register an FIR and arrest those involved when they rescued Sahir and others from the place of incident and hospitalized the injured people.
It also questioned the inability of the government to arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crime.
Demanding arrest and punishment of all those involved in the killing of Sahir, the Council said that it will support the movements launched by the JAC.
