Relief camp overseers seek clarification

Bishnupur, October 26 2023: While denouncing the 'Chak-umba' ceremony held at the Khuman Lampak relief camp for new-born baby of a couple who are inmates of the relief camp set up near Bishnupur old mini secretariat complex by the Lup along with district administration and local MLA, Bishnupur Apunba Tengbang Lup has stated that the executives of the relief camp will resign and shut down the camp if BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda and Khuman Lampak relief camp in - charge Nongdrenkhomba do not clarify on the matter.

Addressing media persons at Bishnupur old mini secretariat complex, Lup secretary M Bilky informed that Chingtham Mahesh and his wife Radha, who are the inmates of the camp, took shelter at Moirang College relief camp before the expectant mother got admitted to Bishnupur district hospital on May 17.As her condition was unstable, she was referred to RIMS and subsequently a baby boy was born on May 22 after which they stayed at Khuman Lampak Hostel relief camp where displaced pregnant and lactating mothers are being accommodated.

However, as Radha wanted to stay at the old mini secretariat relief camp, she was brought to the said facility in an ambulance.

As she went to Imphal on Wednesday, it is surprising that a 'Chak-umba' ceremony of the baby was performed at the Khuman Lampak relief camp in presence of A Sharda.

Calling up inmates of the relief camp managed by the Lup and performing 'Chak-umba' ceremony at Khuman Lampak without consulting them is akin to belittling the effort of those who are overseeing the camp.

As such, the relief camp will be cease operation if A Sharda and Nongdrengkhom ba do not clarify publicly on performing the Chak-umba' ceremony.

Meanwhile, in another press meet, Khuman Lampak Youth Hostel relief camp in charge RK Nongdrenkhomba admitted that there was some communication gap with Bishnupur Apunba Tengbang Lup regarding the 'Chakumba' ceremony at the relief camp.

The press meet was attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president and BJP OBC Morcha Bishnupur District in-charge M Minabanta and Bishnupur Apunba Tengbang Lup secretary M Bilky.
