Imphal, October 26 2023:
Perturbed with allotment of over 200 Kuki-Zo candidates at Imphal centre for the Probationary Officer (PO) SBI examination slated to be held on November 4 and 5, 2023, the Joint Students' Body (JSB) has approached the general manager of State Bank of India (SBI) for necessary review.
JSB submitted a representation to SBI Central Recruitment and Promotion Department Corporate Centre, Mumbai requesting for immediate corrective measures besides intimating problems of the candidates.
The representation said that candidates of PO SBI examination belonging to Kuki-Zo community of Manipur are shocked by the treatment meted out by SBI despite the earlier request for considering a centre in Churachandpur.
It said that SBI has not given any response on the matter despite the fact that candidates belonging to Kuki-Zo ethnic group no longer live in Imphal.
According to the representation signed jointly by JSB convener Nengzalian Tonsing and joint secretary Samuel Taithul, allotting Kuki-Zo candidates at Imphal centre was a move on part of the recruitment authority to discriminate ST candidates as they will not be able to appear for the exam.
Such inappropriate decision was not expected from the largest public sector bank of the country, they said and appealed to SBI authority to explore the possibility of ensuring justice to the Kuki-Zo candidates by not depriving them of the opportunity to join the organisation..
The JSB executives also informed the SBI authority that they are ready to help and prevent any hindrance in case 200 Kuki-Zo Imphal peeves JSB bank PO aspirants in Churachandpur are allowed to appear the examination through online at Community Development Service Centre, Churachandpur as did in the past.
In fact, the Community Development Service Centre has been the examination centre for the SSC conducted exams and other central services recruitment examinations, since the past many years.
However, the centre remains deprived of the facilities after the eruption of violence on May 3, 2023 for reasons best known to the authorities, the two JSB leaders added.
