World Suicide Prevention Day observed

Thoubal, September 26 2024: As in other parts of the world, District Health Society (DHS), District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) and National Health Mission (NHM), Thoubal jointly observed World Suicide Prevention Day at New Era Higher Secondary School, Thoubal Okram Wangmataba on Thursday under the aegis of NHM.

The programme held under the theme 'Changing the Narrative on Suicide with the call to action - Start the Conversation' was attended by Thoubal chief medical officer Dr Y Nokul as chief guest and New Era founder chairman Ningombam Ojit as president, while District Hospital medical superintendent (MS) Dr W Ruhinikumar and DMHP nodal officer and psychiatrist Dr Heigrujam Jina were the guests of honour.

In their addresses, Dr H Jina and Dr W Ruhinikumar elaborated various aspects of suicide along with answering the queries raised by the students and teachers on the observance and the theme for this year.
