PAWF presents Irawat lifetime achievement awards

Kakching, September 26 2024: Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur and its Tripura unit jointly organised the 73rd death anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat at Sahitya Akademi Hall, Nazrul Kalak-shetra Complex, Nungthol in Tripura on Thursday.

On the occasion, PAWF presented Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Memorial Lifetime Achievement Awards 2024 to RK Tarunjit, joint editor of Tripura-based daily Marup, and Lamyanba Sangstha, Tripura secretary Dr Kshetrimayum Madhabi.

The awards, donated by PAWF assistant secretary Lailnujam Prapat in the name of his late daughter L Nanaotombi, consist of traditional handloom shawl, citation, memento and Rs 5000 cash.

Former PAWF, Manipur president Dr Yaiskul Khwairakpam and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Tripura president Langoljam Biramangal Were respectively chief guest and guest of honour of the event, co-chaired by PAWF president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang and PAWF Tripura president Gurumayum Biplab Sharma.

PAWF Manipur secretary Rakesh Naorem, journalist, writer and filmmaker OC Meira, and Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Manipuri Language Advisory Board member Khoisnam Biro-la spoke qn topics related with the' life and works of Hijam Irawat at the event.

Floral tributes were paid to the portrait of the late leader and women writers of Tripura also recited poems dedicated to Hijam Irawat on the occasion.
