10 Oppn parties, others distribute aid

Representatives of 10 opposition political parties distributed essential items at relief camps set up at SC Girls' Hostel, Leimaram and Leimaram Government High School under Oinam assembly constituency on Monday.
The items were handed over by a team led by Janata Dal United (JDU) spokesperson Dr Nimaichand Luwang, which also included JDU's O Nabakishore, Th Swarankumar, Bhakta Raj Thiyam & L Johny Singh; UBT's Sham Leithangbam & T Devananda; CPI(M)'s Ksh Shanta; RSP's K Manoranjan, AAP's Jugindro Thiyam; Trinamool Congress' L Nabakumar and NCP's S Iboyaima.
According to Dr Nimaichand, the government's financial assistance of Rs 1000 to displaced family is very less and should be increased to at least Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 .
On the other hand, O Nabakishore stressed on the need for an all-party talk to resolve the crisis as well as holding talks with 10 Kuki MLAs, while adding that government should ensure that the displaced people can return to their respective homes at the earliest.
Meanwhile, class IX to XII students and teachers of Maria Montessori School, Koirengei on October 18 provided financial assistance to students who suffered serious injuries during the recent protests by over the killing Linthoingambi and Hemanjit.
On the other hand, Manipur Industries Union (MIU) handed over monetary aid and blankets to family members of three people who were killed by Kuki militants at their home at Kwakta on August 5.The bereaved family members are presently staying at Bishnupur Maning Leikai Ward No.6 .
In a release, MIU general secretary M Sankar Singh informed that the Union also provided monetary aid and blankets to inmates of the relief camp opened at Wangoo Ahallup Mayai Leikai community hall.
