Joy, Joykumar formally inducted into BJP

Imphal, September 25 2015 : Veteran politician Okram Joy and former DGP Yumnam Joykumar were formally inducted into BJP as the party's active members.

A felicitation function in honour of Joy and Joykumar was held today at Kakwa community hall where Lok Sabha MP and BJP's Manipur in-charge Prafulla Prahlad Patel presented them lotuses and the party's symbolic scarfs.

Speaking at the gathering, Prafulla claimed that BJP's primary objectives are serving the people and ensuring uniform development not exercising power.

Although BJP State unit enrolment in-charge Sh Shantikumar, general secretary (organisation) Sh Premananda, former Minister Dr Nimaichand Luwang and other party leaders were present at the gathering, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba was conspicuously not seen there.

O Joy who is known as one of the most vocal Opposition leaders against successive Congress Governments with all his vast knowledge and political wisdom would be a huge asset to BJP, said Prafulla Prahlad.

Likewise former DGP Joykumar with all his expertise would certainly bolster the party in Manipur.

He said that it gave him great pleasure to hold such a function today which is also the birth anniversary of Deendayal Upadhay, one of the founders of BJP.

As a matter of National policy, BJP has been undertaking an online enrolment drive.

Except for mentally unsound people and people implicated in corruption or criminal cases, all the people can join BJP.

Many people who were suspended from the party's primary membership have been re-admitted.

Claiming that BJP respects all religions equally, Prafulla Prahlad sought support of the masses to BJP in order to create a new Manipur.

There is a report that Rs 500 crore has been misappropriated in the name of cleansing Loktak Lake, he said while pledging that all efforts would be invested to bring all corruption cases to their logical conclusions.

Although several Central sponsored schemes have been implemented in Manipur, it is only PMGSY which has benefited the people of Manipur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already launched a campaign to provide loans to the poorest of the poor through MUDRA banks.

This loan system does not require margin money or guarantor and it carries the lowest interest rate, Prafulla said.

O Joy said that he joined BJP on the advice of people after staying away from electoral politics for a brief period.

With a vision to create a new India, BJP has been ruling the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a very clear understanding that India can never progress until and unless the North East region is developed at par with other regions of the country.

"It was this vision of the Prime Minister for uniform development of the country which guided me to join the party," Joy said.

Former DGP Joykumar said that he had many grievances when he was a bureaucrat.

It is the politicians who take the final decision in any administrative matter.

"I join BJP with a conviction that joining the decision making body can redress my grievances satisfactorily", Joykumar said.

He said that he joined politics not because he wanted to be a Minister or he wanted to amass personal wealth or he was power hungry.
