MLA team reaches out to displaced folks

A team of MLAs led by Power Minister Thongam Biswajit met the displaced people of Andro who are taking refuge at different relief camps set up in the Constituency, today.
The MLAs who accompanied the Minister included Thounaojam Shyamkumar Singh (Andro), Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh (Patsoi), and Soraisam Kebi (Naoriya Pakhanglakpa).
They handed out relief materials and cash assistance to the relief camps set up at Moirangpural Panam Higher Secondary School, Andro Machengpat Primary School, Andro Higher Secondary School, Ramananda High School at Angtha and Yambem High School among others.

Speaking to media persons about a section of people distrusting Assam Rifles, the Minister said that not all paramilitary forces are bad.
Recalling that Assam Rifles gunned down five Kuki militants who came to burn houses at Yaingangpokpi, the Minister admitted that some personnel of Assam Rifles however have slandered the image of the entire paramilitary force.
It was Assam Rifles who evacuated displaced people belonging to both the parties in conflict, the Minister continued.
Th Biswajit, on the other hand, said that they started visiting the relief camps as per the direction given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
He said that another team of MLAs has also visited the relief camps at Sugnu-Serou areas and interacted with the displaced people there.
Saying that the Government has started taking actions to dispel the fear of the civilians, Th Biswajit continued that most of the displaced folks seem to have more faith in the State force than the Central ones.
Th Biswajit maintained that they will go to relief camps at other places too and enquire about their problems.
He further stated that the Government will extend all possible help in rehabilitation and resettlement works of the people whose houses have either been vandalised or torched.
The Government will put maximum efforts to find out those who instigated the violence, he assured and appealed to all to contribute in restoring normalcy.
All sections of people will suffer as long as the violence continues, Th Biswajit continued and added that additional security measures will be taken up to save lives and properties.
