AITC team interacts with displaced persons

A parliamentary team of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) led by its Lok Sabha chief whip MP Kaly-an Banerjee arrived here on Wednesday and interacted with displaced people taking shelter in relief camps.
The AITC team also comprising MPs Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Dola Sen and Sush-mita Dev arrived in a chopper at about 1.30pm and visited the Wall of Remembrance where dummy coffins of 'fallen tribal heroes' are kept.
The team then proceeded to Saidan and interacted with the displaced persons taking shelter in relief camp as well as Lingsiphai relief centres where over 1,000 displaced persons are taking shelter.
Kalyan Banerjee expressed concern over conditions of people in relief camps particularly children and infants and stressed the need for taking up rehabilitation process.
He also said that proper supply power to relief camps is essential.
Earlier, while talking to this correspondent at the Wall of Remembrance, Kalyan Banerjee said one member of the AITC team could not come on Wednesday.
He also said that the team will assess situation by visiting relief camps and then furnish comprehensive report to the party's high command.
