Kakching, July 19 2023:
The deaf and dumb posture of PM Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah regarding the ethnic violence in Manipur has raised suspicion amongst the people of the state on whether the duo is scheming to disintegrate Manipur, questioned Sakir Ahmed, a social worker from Wabagai AC, on Saturday.
Strongly condemning the Silence of the PM on the prevailing situation, he further said that the apathetic attitude of the union government has raised doubts among the people on whether Manipur is a state of India or not.
It will not be an impossible endeavour for the union government to solve the issue if they are determined to do so but their negligence is condemnable, Sakir remarked.
He further said that while the PM has time for foreign tours and election rallies, he has not even uttered a word of mercy for those suffering from the violence, their lives and homes, and those grieving inside the four walls of the relief camps.
This act of the PM is a clear indicator of his neglect and disrespect towards the people of Manipur.
Suggesting the central government to initiate a peace dialogue between the communities by bringing them to a common ground to iron out the differences instead of merely deploying central forces; Sakir said
that the clashes have affected every sector and people in different profession.
Farmers are unable to sow their crops, students deprived education and skyrocketing of prices of essential commodities, he added.
It has become evident that the BJP leaders like Modi and Shah want to divide Manipur on ethnic lines and create unrest and violence through the divide and rule policy.
However, the people of Manipur would never let it disintegrate and will fight tooth and nail for the integrity of the state, he contended, while urging the central government to intervene to restore peace in the state.
Sakir continued that the state's economy and other business transactions have been badly affected by the internet ban and road blockades and as such appealed to the central government to bring about a long lasting solution to restore peace in the state.
He also appealed to both the Meitei and Kuki com munities to stop all violence and strive to restore peace, while keeping in mind that we are brothers and sisters of the soil and violence will not bring about any solid solution.
Instead, we must forgive and forget and let bygones be bygones.
The CSOs of both communities should also intervene and lead the way to dialogue to bring about a peaceful and amicable solution to the crisis, the social worker said.
