Imphal, December 14 2023:
Condemning alleged intimidation to AMMOCOC president SM Jalal at his home by some unknown armed men, All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) secretary general Wahidur Rahaman has appealed to the individuals or group concerned to resolve any issue peacefully.
Addressing a press meet at the Hatta Golapati residence of SM Jalal, here, on Thursday, Wahidur said that around 10 unidentified armed men came to Jalal's house o,n Wednesday around 6.40 pm and threatened his family members of unwanted consequences if he does not apologise for a statement, he made during the Nupee Lal observance organised by United Manipur Muslim Women's Development Organisation.
SM Jalal was not at home at that time.
As SM Jalal had shared proper account of the history of Meitei Pangal during the observance, AMMOCOC condemns the threat in the strongest term, he said.
Even if any group has any issue with his remarks, then they can always resolve the issue and clear any misunderstanding through proper dialogue with AMMOCOC and its 11 constituents.
Alternatively, any misunderstanding can be cleared through a proper academic discourse by inviting experts and AMMOCOC is ready to ensure that SM Jalal publicly clarifies misrepresentation of history, if any, as per the outcome of such dialogue or discourse, he said.
