60 bodies airlifted to CCpur, Kpi; four brought to Imphal

Altogether 64 dead bodies which were lying in the morgues of JNIMS, RIMS and Churachandpur district hospital were taken out by the State police and paramilitary personnel in the wee hours today and they were later airlifted from Imphal to Churachandpur, Imphal to Kangpokpi and Churachandpur to Imphal in an Indian army helicopter.
The dead bodies of the victims of the violent conflict were lying in the morgues since the beginning of the conflict.
Last month, the Supreme Court directed the State Govt to make arrangements for dignified burial of the bodies lying in morgues.

State police and Central armed police started preparation to take out the dead bodies from the morgues of JNIMS, RIMS and Churachandpur district hospital under tight security measures in the intervening night of December 13 and December 14 .
Even though some people gathered near JNIMS morgue last night on learning about the arrangement to take out the dead bodies, the large number of State police and Central armed police deployed in the morgue's vicinity ensured that there was no untoward incident.
The security forces started taking out the dead bodies from JNIMS morgue past midnight in the presence of the IO concerned.
The dead bodies were then taken toward Hqs IGAR (South), Mantripukhri.
Altogether 27 dead bodies were taken out by security personnel from JNIMS morgue.
On the other hand, another team of State and Central armed police force took out 33 dead bodies including two skeletal remains from RIMS morgue under tight security measures.
The dead bodies removed from RIMS morgue were also taken to the Hqs IGAR (South), Mantripukhri in the wee hours.
The dead bodies were identified one after another inside the Hqs IGAR (South) complex and airlifted to their respective places.
Altogether 41 dead bodies were airlifted to Churachandpur district and 19 to Kangpokpi using Indian army helicopter from Hqs IGAR (South) .
Four dead bodies belonging to the Meitei community which were lying in Churachandpur district hospital were also airlifted from Churachandpur and brought back to Imphal at Hqs IGAR (South) .
Among the four dead, one is a woman from Khuga Dam Churachandpur and her family members are presently staying in a relief camp opened at the old DC office complex, Bishnupur.
The other three were labourers.
The Meitei victims have been identified as Abhujam Ibemhal (65) w/o Sathou of Khuga Dam, Pechimayum Ibochou (50) s/o Ibohal of Oksu under Lamlai police station, Imphal East, Kshe-trimayum Sunil kumar (22) s/o Ksh Bisheswar of Kumbi Ward Number 2, Setupur Maning Leikai, Bishnupur district and Soibam Othello (47) s/o Gourasingh of Heinoubok Maning Leikai, Imphal West.
Dead bodies of Abhujam Ibemhal, Ksh Sunil and Soibam Othello were claimed by their respective families while the body of Pechimayum Ibochou has been deposited at JNIMS morgue.
