Imphal, December 14 2023:
Maintaining that the crisis gripping the state is man-made and should be im mediately solved by calling a special assembly session, CPI Imphal East District Council and Khurai Local Council organised a protest meeting at Khurai Thangjam Leikai, on Thursday.
Taking part in the meeting, CPI Manipur state secretariat member L Sotinkumar said that the government cannot remain silent when the situation in Manipur is at its worst.
An assembly session should be convened for discussing the prevailing situation.
The government should also initiate political dialogue for amicable solution to the problem, he suggested.
Sotinkumar expressed remorse that people face risk in taking the roads to travel outside the state as could be comprehended from the commoners unwilling to travel by road even when the blockade is lifted.
Enquiring as to why the government of India is not doing enough to bring the conflict in Manipur to an end despite knowing the fact that the crisis in Manipur is an outcome of the joint effort of narco-terrorists and Kuki militants bound by the SoO agreement, Sotinkumar expressed suspicion about the government of India abetting the crisis.
He further stated that Manipur is being infiltrated by illegal immigrants with reserved forests destroyed and widespread poppy cultivation.
Despite the state government aware about the ground reality, it has not taken up any specific strategy to solve the problem, he alleged.
