Meitei Pangal Council Manipur and local clubs of Hatta Golapati & nearby areas have appealed to all concerned to refrain from taking advantage of the present unrest and make unreasonable monetary demands from the public.
Addressing a press conference today at Hatta Golapati, MPCM president Haji Arafat Ali Tampak claimed that over the last few days many unreasonable monetary demands have been made to the Meitei Pangals residing in Hatta Golapati and surrounding areas using names of various groups/ organisations.
Pointing out that people of Manipur have been reeling under the prolonged conflict, he urged all concerned to refrain from threatening & intimidating common people who are already facing a lot of difficulties to meet ends.
He also asserted that since the conflict began on May 3 last, individuals and organisations belonging to the Meitei Pangal community have been providing humanitarian assistance to the displaced people who are taking shelter at various relief camps.
He continued that MPCM has no objection against collecting donations from Meitei Pangals staying in Hatta Golapati & surrounding areas to help the displaced people.
Haji Arafat Ali further conveyed that Meitei Pangals have always stood for Manipur's integrity and will continue to defend the State in the future from outsiders.
