Thang-ta training, workshop conclude

Imphal, March 31 2024: The month-long training cum production on 'Sarit-sarat' of Thang-ta, organised by Eastern Kala Vidya Thang-Ta Association under the Cultural Function and Production Grant of Ministry of Culture culminated at the rehearsal hall of the Association at Nongmeibung Khoisnam Leikai on Sunday.

The valedictory function was attended by Association president Khoisnam Dhaballo Khaba as president, Thang-Ta Loishang, Sana Konung advisor Thingbaijam Ibohanbi Meetei as chief guest, Directorate of Craft and Training superintendent (Technical) Yaikhom Achouba Singh, Eastern Kala Vidya Thang-Ta Association advisor Wangkheirakpam Jin Meetei, KIMACS president Ningthoujam Ajit Mangang and cultural activist Tondang Luwa was guests of honour.

In all, 25 boys and girls participated in the month-long training programme.

As part of the closing function, a Thang-Ta (Sarit -sarat) demonstration was presented.

On the other-hand, a three-day Thang-Ta workshop organised by Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association under the sponsorship of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi at its Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom Makha Leikai concluded on Sunday.

In a release, Association's secretary Heikrujam Cha Babu informed that the closing function was attended by Imphal West District Thang-Ta Association president Thounaojam Priyokumar Singh as chief guest and Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association president Huidrom Premkumar Singh as president, while Luwang Thang-Ta Academy, Khurai Kongpal Sajor Leikai secretary Nongthombam Noren Meetei and Thoibi Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Moirang principal Konjengbam Thoibi Devi were guests of honour.

The programme was marked by demonstration of various Thang-Ta techniques by the participating students from 11 Thang-Ta institutes/associations, it added.
