MLA accused of lifting NFSA rice, complaints filed

A complaint has been filed at Lamlai police station regarding forcible lifting of rice under the National Food Safety Act (NSFA) for Kshetrigao AC by the local MLA and his nominee from Sawombung FCI warehouse.
As per a report filed by DSO, CAF & PD Imphal East to officer-in-charge of Lamlai police station on March 30, incumbent Kshetrigao MLA and nominee lifted NSFA rice quota for the month of March, 2024 for the constituency on March 30 at about 4.30pm.Large numbers of MLA's supporters were also involved in the forced transportation of 1327.40 quintal rice from the FCI's Sawombung warehouse on nine trucks.
The report also mentioned that the MLA brought large numbers of his supporters to the FCI warehouse and overpowered officials of Kshetrigao constituency before forcibly carrying away the rice consignment.
Regarding the matter, the proprietor of M/s PK Agency, Malom Tulihal also filed a, complaint at Lamlai PS on March 30 mentioning that rice quota for the month of March, 2024 for Kshetrigao assembly constituency was forcibly taken away from the Sawombung warehouse on March 30 at about 4.30 pm by the MLA and his supporters.
Both the complaints sought action against those involved in lifting the NFSA rice from FCI's Sawombung warehouse.
