Parents urged to nurture children's talents

The 10-day holiday camp held at Bamon Mandop Lairembi community hall, Loklaobung concluded on Sunday with the valedictory function at JN Manipur Dance Academy auditorium with Academy director P Bilash, State Kala Akademi awardee L Saratkumar and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Dr Y Sadananda as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, P Bilash pointed out the need for parents to understand and acknowledge the talent and desire of their children and guide them pursue their interest in the field of arts in addition to their academic activities.
Delivering the key-note address, dance teacher Naosek-pam Daina Chanu informed that the holiday camp was organised for school students on completion of their final exams with the primary objective of instilling discipline and helping them use their time judiciously instead of spending time on mobile phones during the holiday period.
She further informed that the camp was conducted in two phases, with the first held from March 14 to23 and the second from March 22 to 31 .
Altogether 90 students participated in the holiday camp wherein the students were imparted training on dance, folk song, painting, music and Thang-ta by seven instructors.
Certificates were distributed to the participants as a part of the closing function.
