The 10 days training cum production on "Manipuri Folk Dance" organised by Royal Artiste Academy for Culture Heritage (RAACH), Manipur concluded today at Ima Nungthel Lairembi Community Hall in Top Siphai, Imphal West district.
The training cum production was conducted under the Cultural Function and Production Grant (CFPG) Scheme of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The valedictory function was attended by Deepti Academy founder, Doren Khaba Nganba; Mayai Lambi College, Associate Professor, Yumnam Nimai; and RAACH president, Leiphrakpam Tombi as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, RAACH secretary Tekcham Tekchamba said that during the 10-days programme, training was given to young girls about different folk dance of Manipur.
He also elaborated on the need to teach traditional folk dance to interested young children in order to promote & preserve the cultural heritage of Manipur.
Presentation of folk dance by the children who participated in the 10-days long training cum production was the main highlight of the event Moreover, the closing function of the 20-days workshop cum production of "Gopi Abhisar" was held today at Leimayol Arts Centre in Singjamei Chingamakhong.
The workshop was organised by Guru Abunghal Dance & Music Centre, Keishamthong Longjam Leirak with financial assistance from Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi.
It was attended by Manipur State Kala Akademi, former Secretary, S Bideshwar Sharma; Media Theatre Institute president, Kebi Shrma and Guru Abunghal Dance & Music Centre president, Konjengbam Hemchandra Singh as presidium members.
The function culminated with a performance of 'Gopi Abhisar' by various artists including Kangabam Malemnganbi Chanu, Laishram Roshika Devi, Sneha Yumlembam, Sitela Sorensangbam, Leishangthem Yumnganleiba Chanu, Thiyam Lanleibi Chanu, Shamurailatpam Silli Devi, Shamurailatpam Chaoba Devi and Santhoi Maisnam.
Similarly, the month-long workshop cum production on the play "Khoiyum Laini Eidi" organised by Keirao Women's Cultural Centre concluded yesterday at Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Shanglen in Keirao Bitra.
The workshop cum production was conducted under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The closing function was attended by Keirao Gram Panchayat, ex-Pradhan, Kangabam Chourjit; Keirao Social Primary School, retired Headmaster, M Dhananjoy; Fishery Department, Demonstrator, P Ibocha and Azad Higher Secondary School Yairipok, retired Principal, M Jadhumani among others.
At the event, the dignitaries highlighted the need to produce more plays/productions depicting the role & contribution of women in the art & culture of Manipur.
They also called for support from relevant Departments of the Government to promote the art & culture of the State.
Meanwhile, the valedictory function of the 30 days workshop of the play "Maringna Saba Shanghai" was held at the hall of Wangoi Dramatic Union in Wangoi Bazar on March 26, 2024.It was attended by W Jadumani, proprietor Wahengbam Irrigation & chairman of Iboton Memorial Academy School, Wangoi; Bk Wahengba, president Wangoi Dramatic Union and playwright Shanto Mayengbam as presidium members.
The play "Maringna Saba Shanghai" is written by Shanto M and directed by L Ihochouba Raj.
Besides, the 20-days workshop cum production on "Murali Haran (Nata Sankirtana)'' organised by PHIDAM, Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak concluded on March 25, 2024.The workshop was conducted under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The closing function was attended by BB Sharma, retired Director of News, AIR; L Anandi Devi, Guru GIPCA; and Nando Soibam as presidium members.
