'Let's take best advantage of railways reaching Manipur'

A day-long Interaction programme on "Procedures for booking of railway wagons for carrying goods upto Khongsang, Noney, Manipur" was organised by state transport department in association with Northeast Frontier Railway at the Classic Grande in Chingmeirong on Saturday.
Speaking at the occasion as chief guest, Manipur chief secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, while appealing to the businessmen and entrepreneurs of the state to take advantage of the railways which has reached upto Khongshang in Noney district, said that only when they take the advantage, the railways can be a success in the state.
He further informed that any activity at the beginning will have certain issues and problems.
However, the work will be a success in future when the problems and issues are overcome in the process of implementation.
He also said that the promise of Union Home minister Amit Shah to bring essential commodities through railways till Khongshang railway station has now been fulfilled.
The chief secretary also expressed gratitude to the public works department for taking the challenges of constructing roadways from Khongshang till the railway station.
The roads have now enabled transportation of goods from the railway station till the NH-37.Vineet Joshi further informed that an initial agreement for starting agricultural train has been initiated between the state government and the agriculture secretary.
The agriculture secretary also assured that ministry of agriculture will surely give approval if a proposal in this regard is submitted.
He expressed confidence that the interaction programme will solve the confusion prevailing in the minds of the general public on the means to take advantage of the introduction of railways in the state.
Vineet Joshi further expressed gratitude to the transport department, Noney SP and DC for letting no problem emerge in making the railways reach Manipur.
Presided over by transport secretary Michael Achom, the programme was also attended by Lamding senior DCM Kapinjal Kishore Sharma and ARM/BPB, Techi Kumar as guests of honour.
