Labour cards distributed to 50 beneficiaries

In an effort to help ease the hardships of workers, intending BJP MLA candidate Somatai Shaiza distributed labour cards to 50 beneficiaries during a Distribution Ceremony held at Comprehensive Health Services & Research Centre (CHSRC) at Ukhrul town on Monday.
Speaking at the event, Shaiza informed that the labour cards were provided with the aim of helping the impoverished workers who have to battle hardship in their daily lives.
He said that the provision was initiated by himself with the support of Chief Minister N Biren and not from the quotas of any MLAs or ministers.
Distributing the cards to the beneficiaries who are engaged in various building and construction works, he said that the labour card is an identity document issued by the labour department that facilitates work opportunities and helps the workers by providing them with social security.
Shaiza also informed that the process tq empanel CHS-RC under the central health scheme Ayushman Bharat is currently underway and that the same would be completed very soon.
Highlighting the benefits of the labour cards, social activist Kashokmi Kamkara said that the card covers educational support of Rs 5000 each for two children in a household per annum.
It also provides Rs 7500 and Rs 5000 respectively during graduation and masters' level of the child.
Moreover, if the child pursues MBBS and engineering courses, an additional assistance of Rs 35,000 would be provided under the scheme, he explained.
The event was also attended by Phungyo Baptist Church associate pastor Seth Ragui, and former President Tangkhul Naga Long president Artax A Shimray among others.
