Tamenglong, September 26 2024:
The joint civil organisations of Tousem Sub-Division temporarily lifted their indefinite blockade along National Highway-37 on Thursday, following an agreement reached between the Tamenglong deputy commissioner (DC) and the collective group comprising RNCM Tamenglong Zone, Zeme Naga Council, Tousem Area Students' Organisation, Zeme Students' Organisation Manipur, and Ch -ramram Segment Voice.
During the meeting, it was decided that the office building of the SDO Tousem, along with staff quarters, a bank building, and a police department building (currently under investigation), would be formally requested for use by appropriate authorities in the functioning of the SDO office, bank, and police.
Subsequent approval from the government would be sought for the renovation of these structures, with the aim to fully operationalize the SDO office at Tousem HQ by November 10,2024.Failure to meet this deadline would compel the civil society organisations to resume their agitation in any form.
It was also decided to schedule a meeting with the chief minister within 7 days to discuss the matter.
The MoU was signed by the DC, sub-divisional officer of Tousem, chairman of RNCM Tamenglong-Zone, president of Zeme Naga Council (ZNC), representatives from Tousem Area Students' Organization (TASO) and Tousem Headquarters Students' Union (THSU), president of Chramram Segment Voice (CSV), and general secretary of Zeme Students' Organisation Manipur (ZSOM) .
