Imphal, April 24 2010:
Sharing its view on the Gothol incident which it terms it as nasty, the KNF(S) today said though it opted to remain a mute spectator and refrained from commenting in the initial stage, it felt that there is lack of guilty feeling by the perpetrators ever since the incident took place.
'Their move goes the defensive way till date,' it alleged.
If people from other communities join the pilgrims they should be appreciated and protected, but when few Kukis joined them they neither were seen with compassion nor appreciated.
Instead they were seen as enemy, maimed, beaten and killed, said the outfit's IPR Secretary. It also expressed reservation over the Govt's negotiated settlement saying this is not the right peace parleys.
'It has to come from within the thoughts of civil population with compassion and respect,' but this is found absent in the present settlement, it alleged.
The outfit also cautioned of the dangerous nature of the hill-valley divide, the motivating factor behind the Gothol type incident.
Unless the two are integrated, time will not be far for the integrity of Manipur to shake, the outfit warned and appealed that lessons be learnt from the incident.
