Imphal, April 24 2010:
State youth Affairs and Sports Minister, N Biren today stressed the need for preserving indigenous cultures, traditions, games and art forms while speaking as the chief guest at the opening function of the 3-Day Festival of Thang-Ta and Indigenous Dance Festival at Iboyaima Shanglen, Palace compound.
The Minister opened the festival organised by the Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Culture Society.
He further said that the state has unique forms of marital arts and dance forms.

All concerns should take care of the indigenous forms of these arts forms stressing the need for preserving the same.
Concerted efforts of the all concerns to take up revival work various arts and indigenous games that are on the verge of extinction.
Director of arts and culture, Dr Ksh Sorojini, director of JN Dance Academy of Manipuri Dance, Dilip Mayengbam and OSD of Sports Authority of India, NE Region, Lamlun Buhril attended as president and guests of honour respectively.
Many martial arts and dance troupes from different parts of the state are taking part in the festival.
The festival will be concluded on April 26 .
