Imphal, September 26 2024:
Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has raised suspicion of the central government continuously fuelling and manipulating the prevailing conflict in the state through its agents such as the security advisor and the Director General of Police (DGP).
In a press meet held at its Lamphelpat office on Thursday, Committee co-ordinator Thokchom Somorendro referred to news reports about review of AFSPA in the state.
He said that any re-imposition of the Act after review could lead to further violence, especially when the people are already frustrated with the status quo.
Urging the central government, not to even think about re-imposing the Act, he said that both the centre's agents, the security advisor and the DGP, are unable to perform their duties.
It is more unfortunate to have the security advisor to state and then backtrack on the report of entry of 900 trained and well-armed militants into the state, he remarked.
Somorendro then said that the inaction over the recent incidents of drone bombings and rocket attacks on top of the incompetence of the centre's two agents, has raised suspicions on whether the centre through its agents is deliberately fuelling and manipulating the conflict to flush out the insurgents in the state.
