Imphal,June 04 2013:
While expressing their resentment over India government's refusal to implement Inner Line Permit (ILP) even after the state Assembly has adopted a resolution to enforce the restrictive regime to monitor inflow of non-locals visitors, various women bodies namely Nupi Samaj; Tammi Chingmi Apunba Nupi Lup; Kanglamei; AMKIL; WACAK and CHITUWA have maintained that the resolution adopted by the state assembly was a verdict of the people of Manipur and it should be respected by Centre.
In a joint statement signed by their respective Presidents, these women bodies observed that all the 60 legislators of the state unanimously adopted the resolution for implementing ILP in the state.
But the Centre has straightway refused to implement ILP in Manipur.
"Even if India government refused to honour the verdict of the people of Manipur (13 July, 2012 resolution) we would enforce ILP.
The demand of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit and the agitation is being launched is reasonable and we would fully endorse it," the joint statement added.
