, Aug 19: The Indian Army organised a medical camp at Ngangkhalawai Community Hall on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, providing essential healthcare services to villagers amid disruption to routine civil healthcare services due to the ongoing NRC-related strikes and bandh in the area.
A total of 173 villagers, including 93 women, 55 men and 25 children, availed medical consultations, medicines and preventive healthcare services at the camp.
A health awareness session was also conducted, focusing on monsoon-related health concerns, particularly the increased risk of snake bites and mosquito-borne diseases during the season.
Villagers were sensitised on preventive measures, first aid and the importance of timely medical evacuation.
The villagers were also informed that the Indian Army maintains stocks of anti-snake venom and emergency medical support for the local community.
As part of the Government's Anaemia Mukt Bharat initiative, iron supplements and medical advice were provided to beneficiaries.
Odomos was also distributed to help prevent mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue.
The initiative underscored the Indian Army's continued commitment to supporting the health, safety and well-being of communities in remote and underserved areas, particularly during periods when access to routine healthcare services is disrupted.
