Imphal, December 23 2023:
While conveying greetings for Christmas and the approaching New Year, Thadou Students Association (TSA) expressed deep concern over the recent surge in mob violence and armed conflicts among people of the state.
The association vehemently condemned all forms of violence, irrespective of community affiliations, and called for a collective commitment to shun violence in pursuit of development and progress.
TSA, acknowledging the ongoing crisis in a press statement, strongly denounced recent incidents of mob violence and gunfights, emphasising their condemnation of such acts in the strongest terms.
The association expressed hope for the restoration of normalcy and appealed to all communities, including Meeteis and Zo tribals, to work towards a violence-free environment.
Despite recent setbacks, including the loss of the registered office in Haokip Veng, Imphal, the closure of the secretariat complex at Taloulong village in Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi, and the arson of the TSA president's residence at Peniel village in CCpur, the TSA remained resolute in its commitment to peace.
The association reiterated its appeal for an end to violence and urged everyone to contribute to the path of development and progress.
Highlighting Manipur's significant contributions to the nation in various fields such as sports, education, academics, and healthcare, TSA expressed deep disappointment over the recent violence, terming both warring communities that perpetuate violence as anti-nationals.
The association mourned the loss of innocent lives during the ethnic conflict and offered prayers for the departed souls.
As the TSA marked its 67th year of establishment with a newly elected team for the 2023-26 tenure, the association sought the blessings and co-operation of the Thadou community.
Despite the challenges, TSA looked forward to a prosperous future, strengthened by the love of an Almighty, the Prince of Peace.
The association expressed a collective wish for healing in the land and the state of Manipur.
In a message of goodwill, the TSA president, other leaders, and members of TSA extended Christmas and New Year wishes to everyone, emphasising the importance of unity, peace, and progress in the coming year.
