Kisan Diwas cum national Mushroom Day observed

Agriculture director N Gojendro has informed that the government is trying its level best to compensate the farmers who were unable to harvest their crops due to the prevailing conflict in the state.
He made the statement as the chief guest at the observance of Kisan Diwas cum National Mushroom Day by staff of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region Manipur Centre and ICARKrishi Vigyan Kendras on the theme of "Mushroom for Doubling the Farmers Income" at the premises of ICAR, Manipur Centre Lamphelpat on Saturday.
Gojendro continued that the officials concerned are busy taking geo-tagged photographs of farmlands which could not be farmed due to the conflict, collecting Aadhaar cards and bank account details of farmers and verification of the same through the district agriculture officer and deputy commissioner concerned.
While some districts are yet to submit the detail reports, all of the verified reports would be compiled and presented before the cabinet.
After the cabinet approves the same, the compensation will be distributed to the affected farmers, he informed.
Regarding the observance, the director stated that agriculture play in important role in the GDP of the country and as such, lauded the work of the farmers in this regard.
The observance was also attended by ICAR Manipur Centre Lamphelpat head of Regional Centre Dr Ramgopal Laha; department of horticulture and soil conservation additional director K Devdutta Sharma and ICAR Manipur Centre principal scientist Dr I Meghachandra among others.
During the observance, around 18 stalls were set up by farmers from different districts of the state, showcasing various mushroom and agricultural products.
