The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Manipur State Committee has condemned the atrocities committed against the womenfolks of the State by the anti-social elements in the recent past.
A press release issued by Secretary, CPI (Marxist), Manipur State Committee said it is deeply concerned particularly about the victim of Sekmai atrocity and Thanga rape victim and their families.
It alleged that some high profile ruling party leaders intervene in the smooth investigation and the culprits were not punished according to the law of the land.
The party appealed to the State Government led by Chief Minister N Biren Singh of BJP to allow the smooth functioning of investigation by the custodian of law and order in the State.
It expressed hope that the judiciary will prevail in the State and victim and their families should be supported.
In this regard, the State unit of the CPI(M) in consultation with the central leadership of the party is submitting a memorandum to the Central authorities including the Prime Minister.
The party supports the movement of the CSOs and pressure groups in Manipur in favour of the victims and to punish the culprits, the release added.
