Person involved in kidnapping Sagar in KNF(P) custody: Police

Imphal, February 27 2011: Investigating the kidnapping of Sagar Prashad (14) son of Suresh Prashad of Sapermaina, police have come to know that the person who was with Sagar when he was being kidnapped is currently in the custody of the KNF(P).

A police officer, quoting the investigation finding, said that on that fateful day, February 20, Sagar, a 10 year boy named Boy and an 18 year old girl all of the same village were taken away by a mason Paokai @ Chekai Mangte to watch the fishing at Sekmai river near Sapermaina.

Paokai @ Chekai is from Litan of Ukhrul and presently residing at Sapermaina.

He is currently in the captivity of KNF(P), said the police officer on anonymity.

Three unknown persons suspected to be KCP (MC) activists abducted Sagar from the fishing place.

Before taking away him, they also beat up Paokai.

Around 7 pm of the same day, the kidnappers contacted the family of Sagar Prashad and demanded a ransom of ' 50,000 for his safe release, he disclosed.

Paokai who sustained injuries in the assault was brought to Sekmai PHC for a medical check.

On his way back home, he was abducted by KNF(P) activists.

Police believe that he is still in the outfit's custody.

Meanwhile, the 24-hr Sardar Hill bandh called by the JAC formed in connection with the kidnapping of Sagar Prashad commenced from Sunday midnight.
