World Suicide Prevention Day observed at Thoubal

Thoubal, September 26 2024: As observed across the globe, World Suicide Prevention Day observance ceremony was held today at New Era Higher Secondary School today.

The event was organised by District Health Society, District Mental Health Programme and National Health Mission Thoubal under the aegis of National Health Mission.

Held under the theme "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" with the call to action "Start the Conversation", the event was graced by Dr Y Nokul, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal as the chief guest; Ningombam Ojit, founder chairman, New Era Higher Secondary School as the functional president and Dr W Ruhinikumar, Medical Superintendent (MS), District Hospital Thoubal and Dr Heigrujam Jina, District Nodal Officer, District Mental Health Programme, DMHP Thoubal as the guests of honour.

On the occasion.

Dr W Ruhinikumar and Dr Heigrujam Jina spoke at length about suicide, it's causes, suicide prevention etc.

Dr Jina also fielded many questions on the topic of suicide posed by the participating students.

Teachers, staff, students and officials of the relevant department attended the program.
