Centre aware about threat to state, national security: CM

Imphal, February 12 2024: Along with signing a memorandum of understand between the state government and Honda India Foundation, chief minister N Biren, on Monday, launched the Project Buniyaad - Aathmanirbharta Ka Aadhar, aimed at providing employment to the unemployed youth from the marginalised sections of the society, at Classic Grande Hotel, here.

Speaking at the launch function as chief guest, CM Biren noted that earlier it was perceived that the central government is bereft of in-depth knowledge about the unrest situation gripping the state.

However, the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah acknowledging that the crisis in Manipur is threat to the internal security and demography of India, underscores that the union government has been minutely monitoring the evolving situation.

He also said that the union government has removed the free movement regime (FMR) in addition to announcing border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar boundary.

Irrespective of caste or community, anyone coming into the state after 1961, which is the base year for Inner Line Permit System, will be identified and deported, he affirmed.

Stating that the state is presently passing through a critical stage, the chief minister emphasised on the importance of sustaining economic activities regardless of some nefarious politicians sowing seeds of hatred among the people and causing immense hardships.

The CM also assured that the government will ensure that public feel safe and secure.

He then expressed gratitude to Honda India Foundation for choosing Manipur for the project considering the talents, discipline and hospitality of the youth of Manipur, which is among three states selected by the Foundation.

He also expressed confidence that all the youths receiving training under the project will get 100 percent job placement.

While opining that Honda India Foundation will commit for the betterment of the youth of Manipur, the Chief Minister also conveyed his desire for the Foundation to reach out to the hill districts of the state.

The memorandum of understanding signed between the state government and Honda India Foundation is for the welfare and safety of the Manipuri youth while seeking jobs in other states, he added.

Highlighting a recent report of some state youths ill-treated outside, the chief minister advised the youngsters to make proper assessment before joining companies or institutes outside and further pointed but the need for the youth of Manipur to maintain discipline under all circumstances to help them overcome all challenges in life.

In his address, Honda India Foundation trustee Vinay Dhingra said that the project plans to establish four distinct foundations of collaboration with the government of Manipur as the infrastructure and mobilisation support partner, Visan Foundation as the training partner and all the leading hotels and hospitals as placement partners.

It aims to provide 100 percent job placement to the youth from Manipur in the hospitality sector.

Under this project, unemployed youth will receive two months' training from Visan Foundation in Hospitality Management for which a certification will be provided from Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council on successful completion, he added.

The function was also attended by MAHUD minister Y Khemchand, additional chief secretary MH Khan and MSRLM state mission director N Bandana as guests of honour.
