Nemcha lays down welfare inititaives taken up for PwDs at Central Advisory Board on Disability meeting

Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen attended the third meeting of the Central Advisory Board on Disability at Vigyan Bhagwan, New Delhi today.
The function was graced by Union Minister of Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr Thawar Chand Gehlot and Minister of State, Social Justice & Empowerment, Krishan Pal Gurjar as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.
While addressing the gathering, Minister Nemcha Kipgen highlighted the reports on actions taken up regarding various issues associated with persons with disabilities including the awareness cum identification camps organised by the State Government from time to time, for identification and early intervention to prevent disabilities.

She also mentioned the Unique Disability ID (UDID) project which was launched in fourteen districts of the State in the month of July and August this year while stating that the project will be introduced to the remaining two districts at the earliest and for the implementation of the Section 24 of the Right to Person with Disability Act, 2016 .
Regarding social security measures for persons with disabilities, Nemcha informed that the State Government has launched Chief Ministergi Shotharabasingi Tengbang (CMST) on December 3,2017 for empowerment of persons with disabilities.
She also asserted that State Draft Rules for Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 has been notified and published in the Manipur Gazette while adding that the State Advisory Board has already been constituted and is expecting the first meeting shortly.
She drew the attention of the Union Minister, Dr Gehlot and urged for Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) scheme to include the remaining ten districts of the State so that the scheme reaches all the beneficiaries.
At present, RVY is already identified in six districts of the State.
RVY is a scheme providing free physical aids and assisted-living devices for senior citizens belonging to BPL category.
During the meeting, various agendas for empowerment of the Divyangjans were thoroughly discussed.
The meeting was organised by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) in which Joint Director, Social Welfare Department, Manipur Bantee Singh Konthoujam and Child Welfare Officer, L Dhaneshwor also represented the State in the meeting.
