Tension erupts again at Maram Bazar

Senapati, September 19 2019:
Tension erupted again at Maram Bazar when affected families of Makhan tried to build tents along the vandalised houses near the bridge today with materials provided for relief.
Maram people including male and female both young and old gathered at Maram and tried to vandalise the materials.
Following the stand off, Imphal�Dimapur road along the NH-2 was also blocked for some time.
However, with timely intervention of the district administration and civil societies of the district, the mob that tried to enter Makhan Khuman was blocked with the help of security personnel deployed there.
Speaking to media persons, DC of Senapati, Somorjit Salam said that the mob and situation is under control.
The DC also appealed to both the parties to sit down for consultation and finalise the issue.
Use of harsh words and lethal weapons can never bring any solution, said the DC and urged both parties to refrain from using weapons that could lead to destruction breaking peace in the region.
Following the incident, prohibitory orders under CrPC 144 has been clamped.
