Call for sustainable solution, protection of State's integrity raised

The call for protection of Manipur's integrity and immediate abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) with Kuki militant groups is ever growing with more and more people coming out in support of the demand.
A large number of Transgender today staged a sit-in protest at Yumjao Lairembi Community Hall in Keishampat Junction demanding a sustainable solution for the ongoing conflict to restore peace & harmony in Manipur.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, Shanta Khurai conveyed that the lack of Refugee Laws in India is a threat to States like Manipur which shares borders with other countries.
Elaborating on the need for a Refugee Law in India, Shanta opined that the demand for settlement by illegal immigrants from neighbouring countries poses a grave threat to the State sharing border (s) with other countries.

Shanta also questioned the failure of the Government to take any concrete action against the Kuki militants who have violated the ground rules of SoO by attacking innocent civilians and burning down their houses.
Pointing out that the ongoing conflict has led to price hike of essential commodities, food crisis and economic crisis in the State, Shanta claimed that ban on internet services has been imposed in the State for more than 30 days to suppress information about the ground realities.
Bonita Pebam also asserted that despite the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, violent incidents have broken out across the State till today.
Placards with the slogans such as, "We want people's freedom", "We demand sustainable resolution", "No dummies Army", "No arms but peace talk", "Stop divide and rule policy", "Save our future", "Save Manipur ", etc were displaced at the sit-in.
Moreover, Poirei Leimaron Meirapaibi (PALEM) and NEUCO today submitted a memorandum to Lamlai AC MLA, Kh Ibomcha at his residence in Nongada, Imphal East district.
The memorandum listed various demands such as- Implement NRC in Manipur, Cancel SoO with Kuki militant groups, Announce the stand of local MLA and Manipur Government on the ongoing conflict, etc.
Earlier, PALEM, NEUCO and Meira Paibis of the area also staged a sit-in protest at Lamlai Bazar.
Meanwhile, Manipur State Committee Democratic Bharatiya Samaj Party (MSCDBSP) has condemned the failure of the Central and State Government to restore law & order in Manipur even after a month since the conflict began on May 3 .
In a release, MSCDBSP mentioned that the ongoing conflict has led to the irreparable loss of many innocent lives and properties while thousands have been displaced and forced to take shelter at relief camps opened across the State.
Denouncing the atrocities committed by armed militants against innocent civilians, MSCDBSP stated that the Government should give strong warning to the Kuki militant groups under SoO to stay at their designated camps.
Conveying deepest sympathies to the people affected by the present conflict, MSCDBSP extended its respect to the brave sons who are fighting to protect the integrity of Manipur.
