Imphal, November 12 2012:
This year's edition of State Level Baby Show Contest (Manipur), which is held in connection with Children's Day, will not be organized due to lack of proper fund, official sources informed Monday.
The State Level Baby Show Contest is organized by the state Family Welfare Department every year under the sponsorship of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
However, the department has not been able to officially confirm till now whether the requisite documents have been submitted to the Health Ministry for the yearly programme because the state Child Health Nodal Officer had retired four months back, official sources said.
The post of the Nodal Officer is still lying vacant and at the same time two vacant sits of Joint Director is yet to fill up in the department.
The situation has made it difficult for the department to manage its normal task, the sources further added.
The baby show contest is held in the nine districts of Manipur under three different categories every year.
Best mother is selected at the event and honoured with award.
The main aim of the contest is to promote healthy babies in the state.
