Imphal, February 12 2024:
The Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) has resolved to continue its ongoing economic blockade along National Highway 102 (Wanglee-Kasom-Yairipok Road) until the Government gives assurance to construct the incomplete PMGSY roads under TAKL's jurisdiction.
According to a statement issued today by TAKL, the Union imposed the indefinite economic blockade from 5 pm, February 7 due to the negligence in executing PMGSY works pertaining to the road construction from Yaingangpokpi Bazar to Chadong, L029 to Nongdam (T), Kangkum to Wangli and Sikibung to Louphong.
TAKL lamented that even after 4 days since the economic blockade began, the Department concerned and Minister (RD&PR) has failed to give any assurance for the construction of PMGSY roads under its jurisdiction.
TAKL also cautioned that if the authority concerned fails to fulfil the demands within 48 hours, the Union will launch a 12 hours total shutdown on February 15, 2024, in the areas under its jurisdiction namely- Wanglee-Kasom-Yairipok Road and Litan-Imphal
(Ukhrul Road) .
TAKL further appealed to the public and all TAKL units (village) to cooperate and support the agitation.
